Position Mandate
The Controller will work closely with the senior leadership team of an international payments company with operations in Canada, the US, Mexico, and Latvia to optimize performance of the accounting function. Ensure that existing systems and processes are organized to enable efficient month-end closing and consolidation, while providing the accounting insights needed to support and enhance business performance.
Location. Hybrid, Greater Toronto Area
Primary Responsibilities
- Oversee the month-end process and reporting, including multi-level consolidations across several currencies.
- Develop, implement, and ensure compliance with internal and statutory financial and accounting policies, procedures, and regulations.
- Working in conjunction with the Senior Director, Finance, participate in the development of financial plans and budgets; monitor progress and update leadership accordingly.
- Review monthly and quarterly financial results, including variance to budget reporting.
- Oversee banking relationships, including treasury and asset-based lending.
- Oversee audit preparation and activities across countries, and ensure appropriate action is taken based on findings.
- Manage the tax function, ensuring compliance with statutory filings and payments across all jurisdictions.
- Participate in product pricing strategies, including costing reviews.
- Assist with financial reporting for Board and other executive meetings.
- Manage and develop the finance team (3-5 direct reports).
- Assist HR with reporting requirements to relevant authorities (e.g., CRA, WCB).

Skills and Knowledge
- Professional accounting experience in an evolving organization, preferably multi-jurisdictional, that includes GAAP and/or IFRS.
- Strong track record in creating financial controls and delivering accurate reporting with attention to detail.
- Understands how to create a proficient month end closing and consolidation process.
- Exposure to Canadian tax and financial services regulatory compliance.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite and accounting ERP systems, ideally Microsoft Dynamics NAV.
- CPA designation.
- Ability to navigate ambiguity and operate in a fast-paced, turnaround environment.
