About the Director of People and Culture
The Director of People and Culture is the most senior HR leader tasked with building the people infrastructure necessary to support a high-growth, performance-driven clinic network. Reporting to the CEO and managing a team of two, this individual partners closely with the Executive Leadership Team, Regional Operations Teams, and private equity stakeholders to ensure a high-performance, compliant, and inclusive work environment.
This is a business-facing HR role where you will bring structure, enforce standards, and support clinic leaders in managing performance, rather than stepping in to do it for them. Your focus will be on operational clarity, leadership accountability, policy consistency, and embedding the “the company way” across the organization.
Location and role type: Oakville; hybrid with 2 mandatory days in-office
Key Accountabilities and Contributions
Success in this role is grounded in ownership of core HR functions that enable the company’s growth and operational consistency, contributing directly to organizational performance:
- HR Strategy and Operational Leadership: The people strategy is clear, aligned with growth plans, and operationalized across clinics. HR processes are structured and scalable. The Director is a trusted thought partner to the ELT on workforce planning.
- Performance Management and Compliance: Clinic managers operate with clearly defined expectations and are supported, but not shielded, by HR. Performance issues are addressed early and consistently. Internal policies are updated, compliant, and embedded in day-to-day practice.
- Employee Relations and Culture: Employee relations issues decline because clinic leaders are better equipped and supported. A culture of ownership replaces dependency on HR, and the organization moves from reactive to proactive in managing people issues.
- Talent Acquisition and Development: Critical roles are filled efficiently with strong alignment to the company’s brand and standards. Onboarding and performance tools are standardized, and staff development programs reflect business needs and growth potential.
- Compensation, Benefits and People Data: Pay practices are equitable and competitive, and benefits are well understood and valued. People data is used effectively to guide decisions, track engagement, and manage risk.
