ivy Group is thrilled to partner with the Malahat Skywalk on their search for a Marketing Director. The Malahat Skywalk is an exciting and rapidly growing tourism attraction located on stunning Vancouver Island with a mission to make nature accessible and provide unforgettable experiences for people of all backgrounds.
This dynamic and visionary position reports directly to the General Manager (GM) and as a key member of the senior management team, is involved in strategic planning, driving marketing initiatives, and promoting their brand identity. This position requires a local approach with a global mindset, understanding the value of a strong brand as well as a wide range of markets and the importance of partnerships, and community engagement.
This position is located on Southern Vancouver island and requires fairly consistent site visits. Living in or around the area is necessary. Candidates who are open to relocation will be considered.
Responsibilities
Brand Strategy and Storytelling
- Develop, plan, and implement all aspects of the company’s marketing strategy
- Create and execute annual marketing plans including campaigns to promote Malahat Skywalk’s brand across various channels including social media, digital markets, and print advertising
- Ensure consistent brand messaging and visual identity across all channels
Target Market Analysis
- Conduct market research and analysis to identify trends, opportunities, and understand their primary target market and seasonality
- Measure, analyze, monitor, and report on marketing performance, including key metrics and KPIs
Marketplace Understanding and Strategic Planning
- Guide the strategic planning process to align marketing initiatives with company objectives
- Continually evaluate best industry practices in comparison to internal systems and resources, with an eye toward both future needs and budget constraints
- Build and maintain strategic relationships with key industry players, agencies, and vendors
Campaign Management and Execution
- Lead the day-to-day operation of the Marketing Department, including recruitment, budgeting, scheduling, and resource allocation
- Understand and manage tactical campaigns that adjust to changing in market situations to drive visits
- Prepare the organization to meet challenges both locally and internationally, presented by new trends and developments in the market
- Direct all marketing responsibilities in accordance with corporate policies, procedures, and applicable laws
Leadership and Team Collaboration
- Collaborate closely with leadership team to align marketing efforts with the mission and vision
- Work with the management team to ensure the focus remains on the organization’s purpose while maintaining the culture that makes the company unique.
- Effectively lead and manage direct reports
- Prepare reports and/or analysis as required for decision making and approval process.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business, or a related field
- Proven experience in strategic planning, brand management, and understanding target audiences in the tourism or related industry
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to translate data into actionable insights and strategies
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, both written and verbal
- Creative thinker with a passion for storytelling and developing innovative marketing campaigns.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to inspire and motivate
- Experience managing external marketing agencies and partnerships
- Familiarity with the Vancouver Island tourism market is highly desirable
- Located in or willing to relocate to the Victoria area on Vancouver Island.
