Partner Development Manager

Summary

Our client, a firm engaged in a rollup focused on the HVAC, Plumbing, and Electrical sectors, is looking for an enterprising, Partner Development Manager to lead the rollup by identifying, contacting, and assembling a cohort of high-performance small businesses.

The end-game is to take this cohort of companies public within 24 months. Small business entrepreneurs, who individually could not publicly list their companies, will be offered immediate scale in the cohort and a pathway to more fully realize their business's value through access to the public markets.

This role is designed to curate and develop the cohort by assessing prospective businesses and their owners, providing clear and transparent information about the program, securing memberships with companies that fit a defined profile, and fostering trusted and lasting relationships throughout the process.

What You’ll Be Doing
  • Researching and identifying new prospects.
  • Creating an outreach plan, monthly targets, and goals.
  • Conducting initial administrative and financial due diligence with all qualified candidates(along with a finance team).
  • Closing prospects and signing contracts, converting prospects into members.
  • Nurturing members and showing progress towards the listing.
  • Keeping members updated on progress, including sending consolidated financial statements prepared by the finance team and collecting member information (including financials) consistently in return.
  • Maintaining trusted relationships with members to ensure the final closing goes smoothly.
  • Long term – considering your next role within the company post-transaction.
This could be you if you:
  • Consider yourself entrepreneurial. You enjoy opening doors and exploring new markets.
  • Have business finance acumen. You understand the basic principles of assessing a small business’s financial health with the support of a finance team.
  • Can build trusted relationships with small business owners. You can “talk shop” with anybody, pick up social queues easily, and are a quick study. You can learn a little about many things and grasp the principles of a business that may not be familiar to you.
  • You see obstacles as opportunities and you get that you are only limited by your imagination.
  • Are highly motivated. You’ve coupled your desire to help people with your drive to do well financially. You are excited to help small business owners realize their financial dreams while realizing yours as well.
  • You are a self-starter – you don’t wait for somebody to hold your hand or tell you what to do, and you enjoy the growth that comes along with ‘figuring things out’.
  • Are empathetic. You understand that to speak with business owners is to embark on a highly personal journey with another human being, and you have the patience and capacity for understanding on a deep level.
  • Are discerning. You can see below the surface to recognize the value, both qualitative and quantitative.
  • Are tenacious – you know that attracting new partners is a numbers game. You don’t give up after the first 1,2,3,100 tries. You keep going until you reach that goal.
  • You’re ok to be mostly independent. You won’t be micromanaged and you prefer it that way. You are ok to reach out with challenges and ask for help, but you don’t require pep talks or check-in meetings to keep you motivated.

  • Think like an owner. You own the process from prospective partner identification through to contract through to relationship nurturing and listing. You feel a sense of ownership (and pride) over the community that you are building.

This is a unique opportunity for the right person to work in a highly innovative firm designed to help small business owners while creating significant financial gains for yourself upon the project’s success and completion and beyond.
