The Senior Landscape Architect interacts with clients, collaborating with internal and external team members to design resilient and sustainable play spaces that harmonize BNP’s design philosophy with contemporary environmental challenges,within the context of BNP values:

Location and Travel Requirements

The person in this role, ideally, is eligible to work in both Canada and the United States with the ability to travel 50-75% of the time, including visits to installation sites, client locations and BNP offices.

Responsibilities

  • Work with clients to establish design criteria and budget expectations for various projects throughout North America. 
  • Host webinars and workshops regarding the advocacy for connecting to nature. 
  • Oversee and prepare drawings from design concept through to construction documentation using AutoCAD. 
  • Provide quantity takeoffs for project budgeting/estimating purposes. 
  • Keep the client informed and updated on project progress.

Experience

  • Landscape architecture experience creating comprehensive plans and designs for outdoor spaces, that align with client’s needs; experience with site planning for new developments is an asset.
  • Strong background in construction administration; managed projects through builds including managing contractors to deliver on time and on budget.
  • This includes preparing cost estimates, contracts, and construction documents.
  • Exposure to public engagement and regulatory compliance processes that require awareness of jurisdictional regulatory compliance, including accessibility.
  • Conducted research and analysis on the site’s conditions, including climate, soil, flora, fauna, and existing infrastructure.
  • Experience using tools like AutoCAD, GIS, and 3D modeling software to create visual representations of designs to convey ideas to clients, stakeholders, and regulatory bodies.

Skills and Knowledge

  • Ability to manage multiple projects in various stages of development. 
  • Well-versed in metric and imperial units. 
  • Strong understanding of plant knowledge. 
  • Strong spatial visioning capability.
  • Solid written and verbal communication skills; well-developed interpersonal skills. 
  • Critical, strategic thinker with comprehensive analytical skills and relentless attention to detail. 
  • Licensed landscape architect with seal. 
  • Valid driver’s license to conduct site reviews and attend in person meetings when necessary. 
  • Certified Playground Inspector is an asset.
  • AutoCAD (minimum 5 years); Adobe Suite an asset; MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Undergraduate degree in landscape architecture; graduate degree an asset.
